Day 5 – 14 Day Love Challenge

The other night, Cathy and I were searching the nighttime skies for a glimpse of the Perseids meteor shower. Sadly, we failed to see anything. Yet a wonderful thought did enter my mind.
I used to tell my children that I love them to the moon and back. In Psalm 36:5-6, David describes God’s passionate love for us reaches well beyond our solar system into the depths of time and creation:

“God’s love is meteoric, his loyalty astronomic,
His purpose titanic, his verdicts oceanic.
Yet in his largeness nothing gets lost;
Not a man, not a mouse, slips through the cracks” (MSG).

Take the next few moments to contemplate on these two verses, and relish in the idea that God is watching over you. Nothing that happens to you this day will escape God’s attention.

Now, consider the reality that there are those in our world who do slip through the cracks. People whom society ignores by and large. Ask God to bring to your mind someone who may be quarantining alone or who works in a job that oftentimes is taken for granted. Take time to reach out to this person today and let them know you are praying for them. Let them know they are not alone.
