“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it” (Matthew 16:18, NIV).

I marvel as to how two people can view the same event and yet come away with different perspectives. As the adage goes, no two people see the same thing alike. Just ask the tourists who visit Lock Ness.

“We want to live well, but our foremost efforts should be to help others live well.” (1 Corinthians 10:24 MSG).
Jo Cameron cannot feel her skin burning until she smells the singed flesh. She often burns her arms on the oven yet does not experience discomfort. Jo is one of two people in the world who are known to have a rare genetic mutation that causes insensitivity to pain.

“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12, NLT).

I once heard the Christian author, Howard Hendricks, say, “A [person] not in an accountable relationship is a moral accident waiting to happen.” Such was the case for the twentieth-century evangelist, William Branham.

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope” (1 Thessalonians 4:13, NRSV).

In her Gold Star Award Winning book, Big Boys Don’t Cry, Malorie Blackman describes the following dialogue:

“Don’t you know that boys don’t cry?” Adam grinned. “Shall I tell you something I’ve only recently discovered,” I            replied, not attempting to hide the tears rolling down my face and not the least bit ashamed of them. “Boys                   don’t cry, but real men do.”

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!                                    (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV).

My daughter has a trio of turkeys routinely congregating outside her office window. She has named them Larry, Curly, and Moe. Frankly speaking, the girl can be a bit flighty.

“Peter said to him, ‘You will never wash my feet.’ Jesus answered, ‘Unless I wash you, you have no share with me’” (John 13:8, NRSV).

“I don’t need your help.” This was the response I received after offering assistance to a woman who had fallen outside the Post Office. The truth is she did need help. Her leg was pointing in the wrong direction indicating a broken hip.
