“Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment” (John 7:24, ESV)

Congratulations go out to Elliot Tanner, the youngest member to graduate from The University of Minnesota. Elliot earned a Bachelor of Science Degree last April in Physics at the age of thirteen. Some have compared Elliot to Sheldon Cooper, the quirky character featured in the situation comedy, Young Sheldon.

Read Matthew 18:21-22

I recently came across this story from author, Joseph Marshall III:

A playground dispute in the fourth grade concluded with a barrage of epithets hurled
at me, each one more stinging than the other before. I was called every derogatory name
for Indians that two white fourth-grade classmates could remember. Stunned, I could
think of nothing equally hurtful to throw back.

“Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish
three days and nights” (Jonah 1:17, NIV)

A Cape Cod lobster diver has a big fish tale of the one that got away. Michael Packard was retrieving lobster traps from the sandy bottom off of Herring Beach when he claimed, “All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black.”

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do
not give up” (Galatians 6:9, NIV)

I am watching perseverance in action as I write. A squirrel has figured out how to navigate around the baffle I installed last night to the bird feeder. It took about thirty minutes and countless attempts. But the rodent finally scored it prize. Squirrel 1: Me 0.

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only
to poverty” (Proverbs 21:5, ESV).

I received an unwelcomed visitor the other day. A June Bug chose to make company on my nose. The insect’s decision proved to be unwise, as I unceremoniously swatted it to the ground.

“LORD, deliver me from lying lips and a dishonest tongue!” (Psalm 120:2, CEB).

It wasn’t my finest hour. Half-time of the Ohio State-Michigan game had mercifully arrived. My team was losing, badly. I had lost all hope for a win. I needed a pick-me-up.
