“I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39).
 
My heart has been breaking since I received the news that a friend of mine died. The cause was death by suicide. Grief is never an easy burden to bear. However, grief becomes more complicated when someone chooses to take his own life. Death by suicide creates within those who survive a heightened mixture of pain, confusion, anger, doubt, and regret.

Daily Devotion October 16, 2025

“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains” (James 5:7, NIV).

     I have an ambivalent relationship with ATM’s. I hesitate to withdraw or deposit money into these faceless contraptions for fear that the transaction will be recorded wrongly. I feel more confident having a teller count out the bills as they are placed into my hand.

Now when John heard in prison about the things the Christ was doing, he sent word by his disciples to Jesus, asking, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” Jesus responded, “Go, report to John what you hear and see. Those who were blind are able to see. Those who were crippled are walking. People with skin diseases are cleansed. Those who were deaf now hear. Those who were dead are raised up. The poor have good news proclaimed to them. Happy are those who don’t stumble and fall because of me” (Matthew 11:2-6, CEB).

Daily Devotion April 11, 2025

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you”  (Colossians 3:13, NIV).

 

              Malachy McCourt once said, “Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die.” Sadly, people who harbor grudges fail to recognize how much stress they bring upon themselves. The fact is that grudges punish the grudge bearer far more than the one who deserves the punishment.
