“ Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice…Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done” (Philippians 4:4,6 NLT).

In every life, we have some trouble.
But when you worry you make it double.
            Don’t worry, be happy!

These are the words of Bobby McFerrin’s 1988 classic that reached number one on the Billboard Top 100 chart. McFerrin’s song became popular worldwide, particularly in Finland. This news should come as no surprise. The Finnish people are widely recognized as being the happiest people on earth.

Elisabet Lahti is a Finnish psychologist who studies the concept of Sisu. Sisu, is a way of living that has existed within Finnish culture for more than half a millennium. Sisu is the measure of one’s capacity to move ahead in the face of challenge and adversity.

His unwavering trust in God’s faithfulness gave Paul cause to press on through his difficulties with a smile. In the words of Bobby McFerrin, Paul sought not to worry, but instead to be happy.
